Life's a Beach!

Hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. I sure did!

I practiced my sand castle-building skills. I built an awesome levee to protect me from the high tide!

Then, I showed my buddy, Remy, my technique. Nothing, not even the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean, were getting past us!

Weekend Getaway

Who knew turning 8 months old warranted such a
celebration?!! Read on to find out what I mean....

So I woke up last weekend from a nap in the car and I found myself on a road trip with my parents.  Apparently our first stop was at a state beach in Ventura. Hmm...what were we doing here? Don't they know we live 10 minutes from a beach? They are always up to something.

This is me multitasking - trying to play as I have a snack on the beach while catching some vitamin D.
Impressive, right?!

The next stop on this adventure was a Dutch town called Solvang.  There was some sort of Dutch historical festival going on so I got to see all sorts of cool stuff while relaxing in my stroller.  Lucky for me the guy with the horns turned out to only be made of wood...Phew!

My mom and I pretended we were living back in the good ol' Dutch days. I learned some important Viking survival skills (you never know when my woodworking techniques might come in handy) and then she put me in this ridiculously large wooden shoe.  Do the people in this town really have feet this big? If so, I don't want to meet the owner of this shoe. And no, the shoe didn't smell. Thank goodness!

Either way we had a great time in Solvang.  This place is fun and my Mom and Dad's food looked pretty amazing.  I have to say I was a little jealous I didn't get to try one of their ebleskevers.

So, at this point in the trip, I'm still not sure where we were going.  They mentioned something about some castle but no castle in sight. Hmmm.....did this giant shoe belong to a giant Dutch maiden who guarded the castle??

Our next stop was a really cool place called Morro Bay.  There was a really large rock there. And by large, I mean GIGANTIC. My Mom, Dad and I played in the sand after I had another snack, then my dad fit in a quick phonics lesson by writing my name in the sand. Yes, I'm reading already.

After a long, but fun day of traveling I was promised that we would go to the castle but it turned out I was too pooped to do any more sight seeing.  We stopped in a town called Cambria and stayed the night.  I needed my beauty sleep to get ready for this castle. You never know, I might be meeting my prince charming.

It turns out the castle they were taking me to was Hearst Castle.  It was the biggest thing I've ever seen. WOW!  This would be a fun place to play hide and seek.

We took a tour but I couldn't handle it.  There were a lot of details that were WAY over my head and plus it was my nap time.  Lucky for me I was strapped to my dad. Do you think the tour guide noticed?

Luckily, I woke up just in time to see the coolest pool ever!!  Mom was trying to set me up for a photo and all I could think about was going for a swim.  I've taken swim classes, you know.

Don't worry, I was just playing a joke on my parents!  But my trick worked because I got Mom to run over to me and we took this picture together.

And, after a great time at the castle with my parents, I just needed some time to relax.  No one to hold your bottle and tell you how fast or slow to drink...Just relax.  They put me in a lounge chair by the pool and I that's exactly what I did.

We were all pretty exhausted from a long day at the castle, so we went back to our hotel in Cambria and relaxed some more.  We walked through some of the pretty gardens near our room and then the next day we made our way back home.

On the way home, while I pretended to sleep, I overheard Mom and Dad talking about what a great 5th wedding anniversary trip they had. Um, wait a second......

Playing Catch Up

If you've been wondering why I haven't posted anything in 2 weeks, you can blame my blog editor. She says that she had to go back to work and hasn't had time to help me with my posts.
Work?? What could be more important than me? I thought I was her full time job.

Well, here are some pictures of what I've been up to this month. As you'll see, I've been pretty busy...going to the park, drooling, trying new hair styles, learning to crawl, going to birthday parties. You get the picture.  (no pun intended)
