On Sunday, Mom and Dad took me up to Los Angeles to be a part of an event
called "CicLAvia". (www.ciclavia.org) It is a day where the city
streets are open to bikes, runners, people with strollers, skateboarders,
rollerbladers, etc...you get the point! Ciclovías started in Bogotá, Colombia,
over thirty years ago as a response to the congestion and pollution of city
streets. CicLAvia (cic-L.A.-via.....get it?!!) started just a few years
ago and is now becoming a huge event.
Here is a picture of people in Bogotá:
Here is a picture of people in L.A. yesterday:
Mom and Dad were soooo excited to get out of the house on this beautiful
sunny day. Can you tell? They were also excited to see that L.A. is
becoming more bike friendly these days. See that green stripe on the road?
That's the new bike lane in downtown.
Luckily there was a picnic area for kids like me because I needed a break
from all that stroller time. See that look on my face? I am checking out which
bike I'd like Mom and Dad to buy me when I grow up. Mom doesn't know it yet,
but I have expensive taste.
